Mediterranean Sounds

Mediterranean Sounds is led by Cassandre Balbar, and is based in the UK. Mediterranean Sounds advocates for music from the Mediterranean as well as diverse music from across the world. We have specific acts that we actively promote (see Artists), but also support the programming of world music across the UK. Mediterranean Sounds is affiliated to the Midlands World Music Consortium.

 

Cassandre Balbar runs several international music events (The Guild Sessions, the Global Sound Sessions, Hidden Gems) and has artistically directed a range of festivals including Beyond Folk Festival (Lincoln), Eastern Soundwaves (Boston) and stages at Zero Degrees (Louth) and Pop Out Festival (Lincoln). She previously worked as an assistant producer for Making Tracks, supported the SOAS World Music Series and has run a range of events in London and Paris focusing on European Folk music (London Bal Folk, International Bagpipe Day).
